Take a walk through our history

The National Faculty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health was established on 19 February 2010. The faculty was founded through the dedication and vision of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members and community partners, alongside committed non-Indigenous members with a long history of involvement in this area.

In 2020, the Faculty commemorated its 10-year anniversary – a significant milestone for the RACGP.

About the artwork

Created for the RACGP by Marcus Lee, the artwork symbolises the RACGP's commitment to raising awareness of the health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Faculty is represented as the central core of the design. The artwork depicts a process of healing pathways that interconnect through the core and divert outwards towards improved health outcomes for all Indigenous Australians, which is symbolised by the four angled stethoscopes.

Commemorative items

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary and achievements of the RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Faculty, the RACGP has created a commemorative book and limited-edition polo.
