About AIDA

Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA) is a not-for-profit, member-based, professional association supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students and doctors.

The organisation’s purpose is to contribute to equitable health and life outcomes and the cultural wellbeing of Indigenous Australians. They do this by working towards reaching population parity of Indigenous medical students and doctors, and supporting a culturally safe healthcare system.

AIDA and the RACGP working together

This partnership has been driven by a shared recognition of the importance of mentoring across the continuum of medical education, training and professional development for medical students, general practitioner registrars and RACGP fellows.

Our two organisations recognise the importance of delivering culturally safe primary healthcare. We are committed to working together to Close the Gap and achieve equity of health status and life expectancy between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians by 2030.

We want to do everything we can to support the growth of the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors.
