Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills for General Practice

Online via gplearning

This online course provides GPs with foundational CBT skills and is ideal for GPs who wish to include CBT in their clinical practice. Whilst aimed at rural GPs, it will be a useful resource for any GP interested in gaining skills in psychotherapy.

The training comprises six interactive learning modules; each taking one hour to complete and can be completed at your own pace.

The course focuses on six areas:
  1. Introduction to CBT
  2. Assessment, formulation and treatment planning
  3. CBT in action: focus on depression
  4. CBT in action: focus on anxiety
  5. Challenges in CBT
  6. Additional considerations

GPMHSC FPS CPD approved. CPD Accredited Activity (40 points).

FPS CPD Case-Based Discussions

This Focussed Psychological Strategies CPD course has been designed to support GPs in implementing FPS with patients, evaluating their practice, and further developing their skills. It consists of a series of thought-provoking, small group case-based discussion sessions facilitated by a GP with specialist experience in mental health. Each participant will present a case and through these case discussions participants will extend their FPS skills by exploring the intervention methods they currently use, critically reviewing challenging cases, and developing strategies for addressing barriers to achieving best practice.

This activity is offered via the Zoom platform and comprises of four two-hour case-based discussion sessions from 5:30-7:30pm AEST in the weeks of 04/07, 18/07, 01/08 and 15/08.

Cost: $295 for RACGP members and $345 for non-members.

This is a CPD accredited activity (eligible for 40 points) and has GPMHSC accreditation for FPS CPD.

The influenza season has started early in Australia and is cocirculating with COVID-19. The recent sharp increase in flu cases is accompanied by concerns about low vaccination uptake, especially in the most at-risk populations. Prevention of severe disease in vulnerable populations relies on early immunization and initiation of antiviral medication where appropriate. New resources are available providing guidance on COVID-19 and influenza outbreak management and antiviral treatment/prophylaxis in the aged care population.
