Short, Sharp, To-the-Point updates on current clinical topics

This single day educational workshop is a degustation for the mind, with six one-hour presentations, featuring a broad range of topical issues.

Topics include: Weight loss management, Infectious diseases, Rheumatic Heart Disease, Insomnia, Ischemic Heart Disease, and consultation skills.

FPS CPD Case-Based Discussions

This Focussed Psychological Strategies CPD course has been designed to support GPs in implementing FPS with patients, evaluating their practice, and further developing their skills. It consists of a series of thought-provoking, small group case-based discussion sessions facilitated by a GP with specialist experience in mental health. Each participant will present a case and through these case discussions participants will extend their FPS skills by exploring the intervention methods they currently use, critically reviewing challenging cases, and developing strategies for addressing barriers to achieving best practice.

This activity is offered via the Zoom platform and comprises of four two-hour case-based discussion sessions from 5:30-7:30pm AEDT in the weeks of 10/10, 24/10, 7/11 and 21/11.

Cost: $295 for RACGP members and $345 for non-members.

This is a CPD accredited activity (eligible for 40 points) and has GPMHSC accreditation for FPS CPD.

GPs in Training Series: ADHD

CPD Activity - 4 Points

Join us to learn more about the GP's and the psychiatrist's roles in the diagnosis and management of ADHD. In this session Dr Bennett will unpack:
- the assessment and diagnosis of a patient with suspected ADHD
- a multimodal approach to creating a treatment plan
- a useful GP Toolkit

Dr Patterson will focus on the psychiatrist's role, including appropriate prescribing for patients with ADHD.

Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR

This BLS course is run in conjunction with Medical Training Solutions and provides participants with topical emergency presentations and recent changes in emergency practice, tailored specifically for GPs.

This workshop is presented in accordance with the current guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council and covers all aspects of resuscitation and basic life support.

Completion of a BLS course is a requirement for the 2020-22 triennium.

We aim to offer this training in a COVID-safe manner. The session may be postponed or cancelled (with a full refund) if we believe that training cannot be held safely.

The first session of the 2022 Paediatric Masterclass focusses on children presenting with learning difficulties. The Cancer Council in conjunction with the Vic Faculty New Fellows is proud to present Effective Cancer Communication (ECC) program.

Effective communication fosters patient autonomy within health services and enables supportive relationships with cancer patients and their families.

This course has been developed for clinical staff and provides a practical, evidence-based conceptual framework. The course provides in a small group setting the opportunity to:

- Explore emotional reactions to cancer through experiential learning with simulated patients.
- Recognise emotions and apply frameworks to respond effectively.
