Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Tasmanian RHC

The 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for GPs' workshop is designed to support rural GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by rural GPs, emergency physicians and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day workshop will give participants the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in general practice settings and gain hands-on experience in the use of point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts.

The workshop is a CPD Accredited Activity under the RACGP CPD Program (eligible for 40 points) and is approved for all categories of the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The workshop runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm and will be offered to RACGP members at $695 (incl. GST) and to non-members for $995 (incl. GST). Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR

This BLS course is run in conjunction with Medical Training Solutions and provides participants with topical emergency presentations and recent changes in emergency practice, tailored specifically for GPs.

This workshop is presented in accordance with the current guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council and covers all aspects of resuscitation and basic life support.

Completion of a BLS course is a requirement for the 2020-22 triennium.

We aim to offer this training in a COVID-safe manner. The session may be postponed or cancelled (with a full refund) if we believe that training cannot be held safely.

Celebrating General Practice: Fellowship and Awards Ceremony

The Fellowship and Awards Presentation Ceremony applauds the achievements of New Fellows, honours award winners and celebrates collegiality. This year's celebration will be held at the Paranaple Convention Centre, Devonport, Tasmania.

All members of the general practice community are warmly invited to witness the official presentations together with their supervisors, colleagues, family and friends. Celebratory drinks and canapés will follow the formal program.

Attendance at the ceremony is free to all RACGP New Fellows and Award winners. Additional guests are welcomed for a small fee. A children's table will be available for our younger guests.

Online Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training

The RACGP Rural Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST) package provides GPs with essential training to enable them to become a GP provider of Foccussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) and provide CBT-derived FPS conselling to patients in their practice.

This flexible, innovative training package is made up of four Modules and uses a combination of technology, peer learning groups and locally available resources to provide GPs with access to FPS skills training whist remaining in their practice and community.

Please note: Level 1 Mental Health Skills Training (MHST) is a prerequisite for enrolment in the FPS ST training package and must have been completed after 1 January 2017.

The training package has GPMHSC accreditation and on completion GPs can gain FPS provider registration with Medicare to access FPS related MBS numbers 2721, 2723, 2725 and 2727.
