Community recovery centres may be established in response to a disaster, depending on the scale of the disaster and the needs of the affected community. Services provided within recovery centres will vary, but will often consist of:
Contact your local PHN to find out if recovery centres have been established in your area and, where applicable, request that its details are passed on to you and your team. Patients and other community members who approach you for relevant recovery assistance can be directed to your nearest recovery centre.
States and territories use interchangeable names for centres that provide a range of relief and recovery services10. You may be familiar with names such as; recovery hubs, recovery ‘one-stop-shops', or humanitarian and/or family assistance centres. Regardless of the names allocated to them, each of these centres offer recovery services to local communities, helping them to restore emotional, social, economic and physical wellbeing.
States and territories have a range of official, pre-planned recovery services available for people to reach out to and utilise following a disaster. The types of services available will vary between locations, but may include:
