About the Role

We are seeking a Medical Officer to join the Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) Medical Assessment team based in Darwin.  Current hours are every Monday, 8am-12pm and then swapping between a Wednesday and Thursday each fortnight working 8am-12pm.  There is an ad-hoc requirement for additional shifts from time to time, notice will be provided for these shifts.  However, we are very happy to discuss alternative roster arrangements for the right applicant.

This position is responsible for medically assessing candidates to determine their suitability for entry into the Australian Defence Forces.  Utilising your extensive medical background the successful applicant will make accurate clinical decisions that are relied upon at all stages of a candidates assessment and enlistment.

As this site forms part of a Region and a wider National team some intra state travel will be required to assist at other sites when needed and is always fully paid.  Furthermore there is the recommended requirement for 4-6 weeks at 3-5 days per week upon commencement of employment to fast track training and learning.  This requirement will be negotiable for the right applicant and will be adjusted based on experience and speed of learning.  Due to the nature of our business it is likely this training will be managed interstate, expenses will be fully paid.

To be eligible for this position applicants must have unconditional registration with AHPRA, Australian Citizenship and be willing to undergo the Australian Defence Force (ADF) security clearance process.  Vocational registration with the relevant professional college would be highly advantageous.
