Sleep disordered breathing in children

On-demand recorded 20 Jul 2021

Sleep disordered breathing is common in children. Snoring, mouth breathing and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) are often common prompts for parents to seek advice from their GP. Sleep disordered breathing refers to the pathophysiologic continuum that includes snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome, obstructive hypopnea syndrome and OSA. This is of increasing concern given the rates of childhood obesity and risk of hyperactivity, poor concentration and performance in school, behavioural problems and cardiopulmonary disease.

This webinar covers:

  • The causes of sleep disordered breathing in children

  • Causes and consequences of OSA in children
  • Management options for OSA in children
  • Referral criteria for ENT specialist
