This instalment of the Rural Health Webinar Series will provide an overview of disruptive behavioural disorders in childhood, including management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant disorder (ODD) and Conduct disorder (CD). These disorders will be explored with a particular focus given to the challenges these settings provide and some practical tips that can be applied in regards to diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and management pathways.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify behaviours and consequences of disruptive disorders in childhood.
  2. Recognise diagnosis and treatment pathways for ADHD, ODD and CD.
  3. Explain both the behavioural and stimulant management options.
  4. Apply knowledge to treatment and management pathways.

Dr Andrew McDonald, has been a paediatrician in Campbelltown since 1990, training in both Australia and the UK. He works one day per week at Tharawal Aboriginal Health service, teaches medical students, instructs on Advanced Paediatric life support courses, and is an examiner for the College of Physicians.
