Join Emeritus Professor Mark Harris and Professor David Dunstan as they share the latest evidence and guidance to help sedentary patients implement positive lifestyle changes and reduce associated health risks. 

This is a collaboration between RACGP Healthy Habits and the Heart Foundation.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify the risk factors of sedentary lifestyles.
  2.   Utilise different models of motivational interviewing.
  3. Recommend lifestyle changes to support sedentary patients.
  4. Discuss programs to support sedentary patients.

Emeritus Prof Mark Harris

Mark is an academic General Practitioner at the University of New South Wales, practising GP with the Asylum Seeker’s Centre here in Sydney and Chair of the Shaping a Healthy Australia Working Group at the RACGP who have advised on the development of the Healthy Habits tools.

Prof David Dunstan PhD
Head of Baker-Deakin Department of Lifestyle and Diabetes

David's research focuses on understanding the adverse health consequences of too much sitting and the potential health benefits resulting from frequently breaking up sitting time.

Pamela Scarborough
Senior Health Professional Engagement Officer in Physical Activity, Heart Foundation

A physiotherapist by background, Pamela is deeply passionate about the role of physical activity and exercise on physical and emotional health, and about behaviour change, person-centred care, and program development.
