This interactive webinar will feature a panel of experienced GPs who will examine the ongoing potential of PrEP in HIV prevention in Australia. Learn about the role of primary care in the latest epidemiological trends in HIV, current patient demographics and effectiveness of PrEP in reducing HIV transmission.

Dr Elizabeth Leprince

Dr Elizabeth Leprince graduated from the Australian National University in 2008. She moved to Tamworth in 2009 to work at the Tamworth Base Hospital. Dr Leprince finished her General Practice training in 2014. Her interests are in rural health, family medicine and sexual health.

Dr Louise Tomlins
Sexual Health Specialist

Dr Louise Tomlins is a Sexual Health Physician working at Western Sydney Sexual Health Clinic. Key interests are HIV Medicine and transgender health care. Louise previously worked as a an S100 GP at Taylor Square Private Clinic, Darlinghurst a private sexual health clinic established in 1981 at the beginning of the HIV epidemic in Australia. Taylor Square Private Clinic was at the forefront of developing community-based care for people living with HIV which has influenced HIV care models internationally. Louise was involved in the early implementation studies for PrEP in Australia and continues to prescribe and advocate for ease of accessibility of PrEP particularly for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. She is actively involved in teaching and research, including in the fields of women with HIV and quality of life in people living with HIV.

A/Prof Darren Russell
FRACGP, DipVen, FAChSHM

Associate professor Darren Russell is Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne and James Cook University. Darren is a past-President of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Victorian AIDS Council, and the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations. Darren interests include Indigenous sexual health, and the elimination of HIV transmission and hepatitis C infections in Australia. He has worked as a clinician in the field of transgender health for 30 years and has prescribed hormonal therapy using an informed consent model for all of that time.
