Neuropathic Pain – More Than Just Faulty Wiring
Webinar 26 Jun, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM (AEST)
This series is ideal for GPs seeking to deepen their understanding of pain, enhance their communication with patients, and improve the quality of care for individuals experiencing chronic pain.
Nerves are not just passive conduits like a toaster cord—they are living, responsive, and immuno-reactive. In this session, we’ll dive into the complexity of neuropathic pain, focusing on sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and strategies to prevent CRPS. We’ll explore how nerves adapt and amplify pain, and spend quite a bit of time on the very cutting edge findings on the vital role of neuro-immune interactions. There are many practical strategies beyond medication that can empower patients to take an active role in their healing.
Learning outcomes
- Describe how nerves are living, responsive, and immuno-reactive, rather than passive conduits.
- Explain some of the complex mechanisms behind neuropathic pain such as AIGs and neurogenic inflammation.
- Recognize the importance of active treatments over passive symptom management.
- Apply practical, non-medication-based strategies to support neuropathic pain recovery and improve patient function.
