Improving your understanding of the MBS

On-demand recorded 29 Sep 2022

This webinar provides an overview of how to improve your understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). The MBS can be highly complex and questions about item interpretation are common. The session covers:

  • resources available to support MBS use and interpretation
  • how to ensure your use of the MBS is compliant
  • understanding your billing profile – how to find information about your billing profile from common practice software systems
  • RACGP resources to assist with MBS use (eg MBS online tool).
Download the MBS and compliance summary of useful links.
Download the Q&A from the webinar.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify problem MBS item numbers that are difficult to interpret and may result in compliance concerns
  2. Utilise common practice software systems to find information about your billing profile
  3. Locate resources to assist with MBS interpretation and Medicare compliance (both RACGP resources and external resources)
