Hepatitis B in General Practice

Webinar 24 Mar, 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM (AEDT)

Primary care clinicians are essential in improving outcomes for people living with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). With CHB being the leading cause of liver cancer globally, guideline-based monitoring and management in primary care can significantly reduce preventable illness and death.

This webinar will strengthen participants' understanding of hepatitis B, including epidemiology, transmission, testing, monitoring, and management. It will also highlight the critical role of GPs in identifying people at risk, promoting vaccination, facilitating timely testing, and ensuring regular viral load monitoring an essential component of CHB care.

Despite the NSW Hepatitis B Strategy 2023–2026 targeting 100% of people in care, only an estimated 30.7% of people in NSW received appropriate monitoring and treatment in 2021. This session will explore practical approaches and resources to help clinicians improve engagement in care and support best-practice CHB management in the community.

* CPD hours: Webinar EA 1 hour; with optional post-activity CPD: RP 1 hour and MO 1 hour activities.
