The role of GPs in preventing subsequent events in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) – IDENTIFICATION

On-demand recorded 15 Mar 2023

This webinar is the first of a series of three webinars focussing on preventing subsequent events in patients with ASCVD. The webinars will progress through the topics of Identify, Optimise, and Review to educate GPs to proactively identify high-risk patients for secondary prevention. Patients with ASCVD such as patients with a history of acute coronary syndrome, stroke, and/or coronary revascularisation are at highest risk of a subsequent event and are candidates for secondary prevention. Participants will be educated on modifiable risk factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes including appropriate targets from national and international guidelines.

The first webinar will focus on the role of GPs in proactively identifying high-risk patients for secondary prevention and the importance of managing modifiable risk factors to reduce the risk of recurrent events.

Learning outcomes

  1. Recognise the serious consequences and risk of recurrent events in patients with ASCVD
  2. Recognise the importance of managing modifiable risk factors, such as dyslipidaemia and diabetes to reduce the risk of recurrent events
  3. Recognise the role of GPs in secondary prevention of ASCVD and implement practice procedures to proactively identify patients

This event is part of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD). Events in this series are:
