SafeScript NSW is here - How is it working?

NSW health has implemented the SafeScript NSW, the state’s Real Time Prescription Monitoring System.

In this webinar GPs will learn about how to register and use SafeScript NSW to assist them in managing patients using monitored medicines and hear directly from practitioners already using SafeScript NSW as part of the initial implementation in Hunter New England and Central Coast area.

Learning outcomes

  1. Make use of the SafeScript NSW System and interpret the patient prescription and dispensing history to deliver best practice patient outcomes
  2. Demonstrate an awareness of current best practice clinical guidance for managing patients using drugs of dependence
  3. Locate and use information regarding management of substance misuse
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of how to seek advice or make referrals when required, during all hours (including: Where to go. What to do it. Who to involve. When to take action)
  5. Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the role of the Pharmacist in dispensing drugs of dependence

Stephen Ling
Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Analyst, Real Time Prescription Monitoring

Stephen Ling is a Nurse Practitioner in Drug and Alcohol. He has worked in Consultation Liaison Drug and Alcohol for over 25 years and is an accredited medication assisted treatment prescriber for opioid use disorders. He has held substance use disorder clinics, substance use in pregnancy and substance use and chronic pain clinics collaboratively with other specialised clinicians. Stephen is on secondment with the Real Time Prescription Monitoring Team at eHealth NSW.
