Rural Health Webinar Series - The management of paediatric emergencies

This instalment of the Rural Health Webinar Series is designed to appeal to both rural and metro-based GPs with an interest in learning more about paediatric emergency care. It will provide practical education on how GPs can most effectively manage and treat common paediatric emergencies. 

This webinar will be facilited by Dr Chaminda Egodage. Chaminda is a staff specialist in emergency medicine at Camden and Campbelltown Hospitals and a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify the signs of a sick child.
  2. Describe approaches to manage a critically unwell child.
  3. Apply immediate treatment strategies for common paediatric emergencies.
  4. Identify and manage neonatal sepsis.

Dr Chaminda Egodage

Dr Chaminda Egodage is an Emergency Physician working in South Western Sydney. He has 15 years experience in managing both adult and paediatric emergency patients in suburban as well rural settings. He is a conjoint senior lecturer with the Western Sydney University’s School of Medicine and coordinates the clinical rotations in Emergency Medicine for medical students. He is also responsible for international medical graduates' orientation and education at Campbelltown Hospital. Dr Egodage is an APLS instructor and is a passionate educator teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
