This instalment of the Rural Health Webinar Series will explore prescribing habits that are particular to palliative care. GP participants will learn about effective prescribing and how certain medications can be utilised to improve symptoms in palliative care patients.

  1. Select appropriate medications for multiple purposes in a palliative care setting
  2. Identify options for adjuvant analgesia when opioids are ineffective
  3. Confidently engage in therapeutic treatment discussions between health professionals (including pharmacy, palliative care, and nurses)

Dr Arron Veltre

This webinar will be facilitated by Dr Arron Veltre (B.AppSci(Hons), MBBS, FRACGP, FAChPM). Arron is a Palliative Care Specialist working in Manning Base Hospital (Taree). He is also the Clinical Dean at the Manning Campus for the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH). His research interests include emotional wellbeing and Advance Care Planning. He has a special interest in the alleviation of suffering and the improvement of death literacy in the community. He spends his *spare* time drinking coffee and riding bicycles... often while contemplating death.
