The Australian Institute of Criminology has reported that 27% of women experiencing coercive control in the context of a domestic relationship had also experienced Non fatal strangulation.

Dr Jane Brabin
General Practitioner and Educator with the Education Centre Against Violence

Dr Jane Brabin is a General Practitioner with a passion for rural/regional primary care. She has worked as a medical and forensic examiner in sexual assault services for 13 years as part of the medical team providing a crisis response to victims of sexual violence. She collaborates with the Education Centre Against Violence assisting with the delivery of education for doctors and nurses responding to victim-survivors of violence, abuse and neglect.

Dr Grace Wong
Staff Specialist & Head of Department

Dr Grace Wong is a Senior Staff Specialist Forensic Paediatrician and Head of Department at the Child Protection Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Dr Wong is also the Senior Clinical Advisor for Child Protection at NSW Ministry of Health.

Dr Eleanor Freedman
Medical Director and Forensic Manager, NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence

Dr Ellie Freedman is a medical forensic examiner and a sexual health physician with extensive clinical experience in management of adult sexual assault. She is passionate about the provision of trauma informed, patient centred health care. She is the manager of the medical and forensic portfolio at ECAV, (NSW Education Centre Against Violence) and is the senior clinical advisor (adult sexual assault) to NSW Health PARVAN Branch. In these roles she provides state-wide workforce and training advice to NSW Health services and to a range of external stakeholders involved in the response to people who have experienced sexual violence.
