Long-Acting Reversible Contraception: Overview and helpful hints for the novice - Webinar 1
On-demand recorded 7 Mar 2022
Preventing unintended pregnancy is an important public health imperative and a key focus of Australia’s National Women’s Health Strategy 2020-2030 (NWHS) (Australian Government Department of Health, 2018). One-third of Australian women experience an unintended pregnancy, with rates of unintended pregnancy disproportionately higher among the socio-demographically disadvantages and those living in rural areas.
Long-Acting and Reversible Contraception (LARC) is effective at preventing a pregnancy but uptake in Australia is low.
The first webinar in the AusCAPPS webinar series will look at LARC (Long-Acting Reversible Contraception) – what is available, barriers, efficacy, and safety of LARC methods. It will also examine techniques of LARC insertion and removal procedures.
- Identify what methods of LARC are available
- Identify the barriers, facilitators, efficacy, and safety of LARC methods
- Examine recommended techniques of LARC insertion and removal procedures
