Hepatitis B in primary care

GPs play a crucial role in improving health outcomes for people with hepatitis B, through testing, diagnosis, informed clinical management and support for individuals and their families. This webinar provides an update on the epidemiology, screening, diagnosis, and management of hepatitis B in the community.

Dr Simon Slota-Kan
Dr Simon Slota-Kan is the Public Health Physician for the Pilbara and Goldfields Public Health Units in the WA Country Health Service with significant work undertaking the public health follow-up of infectious diseases. Before this he was the Senior Medical Officer with Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service in Newman, WA. He has endorsement for CPOP (Opiate Replacement Therapy) as well as endorsement as an S100 prescriber for Hepatitis B and HIV.
His past experience includes remote work with NT government primary care in remote communities focused on chronic disease, medical education with the RACGP and RACP, as well as multiple roles in the Victorian Department of Health as Medical Advisor Public Health in Environmental Health, Communicable Disease Control, Partner Notification, Food Safety and Medicinal Cannabis.
Dr Kate Coles
BSc, PhD in public health/microbiology, MBBS from university of Melbourne, MPHTM from James Cook Uni, FRACGP
Dr Kate Coles is a GP at UWA medical centre, Sexual Health Quarters and with the Black Swan Street Doctor. Kate has also worked at Hepatitis WA and for a long time at co-health in Melbourne- working mainly with refugees, homeless populations, PWID.
Dr Coles also works for the RACGP as a medical educator.
