Basic Life Support (BLS) Run By GPs for GPs
In-person 10 Aug, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (AEST)
RACGP Victoria's Basic Life Support course is a GP peer to peer experience, delivered by a GP trainer, Dr Rod Campain. This course covers recognition of an emergency, DRSABCD, chest compressions and rescue breathing using COVID-safe resuscitation masks and equipment. It also includes a structured approach that GPs can use to treat all patients who may have a life threatening illness.
Completion of a BLS course is a requirement for the 2020-22 triennium. Secure your spot to update your BLS training and network with your peers.
Venue: RACGP House, 100 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne
Covid safe procedures:
- If you are unwell (Fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose or shortness of breath) please stay at home and get tested – please also contact me to advise
- Do not attend if you have tested positive to Covid-19, are waiting for Covid-19 test results or have been instructed to self-isolate
- Sanitise your hands
- Socially distance where possible
- Wear a fitted facemask during the session
Learning outcomes
- Recognise an emergency and call an emergency response number
- Demonstrate CPR skills on an infant, child and adult manikin on the floor following the DRSABCD steps
- Assess and manage the airway including C-Spine protection, removal of any foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO)
- Demonstrate competence in chest compression and ventilation skills including a minimum of mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing or bag-valve-mask.
