Online emergency medicine for rural GPs workshop

Designed and facilitated by experienced rural GPs and emergency specialists, the emergency medicine for rural GPs workshop aims to enhance rural emergency medicine skills using case scenarios that reflect the challenges faced when living and working in rural and remote communities.
This online workshop explores critical considerations involved in managing rural emergency cases, packaging patients for retrieval, communicating effectively with retrieval teams, debriefing and self-care. All the scenarios included in the workshops are written by experienced rural GPs from actual cases and involves four small-group interactive case scenario discussions,
Learning outcomes
- Evaluate critical management considerations for common rural emergency presentations.
- Formulate plans to effectively package patients for retrieval while considering best practice guidelines, local resources and the unique needs of the patient.
- Apply the ISOBAR technique in clinical communication related to retrieval.
- Develop a plan for debriefing that can be applied in own practice following a serious emergency.
- Create a plan for own self-care that can be applied following a serious emergency.
