From 1 December 2025, the Queensland Government has allowed specialist GPs to initiate, adjust and continue prescriptions for ADHD medications for adults. The session emphasises that GPs do not need to become ADHD diagnostic experts immediately and can begin by safely and effectively managing patients with existing diagnoses and established medication plans. Drawing on the core strengths of general practice; continuity of care, holistic management, and experience with complex prescribing, ADHD care can comfortably fit within the scope of specialist general practice.
