With the move to Health Direct notifying GPs of their patients being COVID positive and the possibility of them needing treatment, Specialists will provide an introduction to the change process from the current system to the future system, including;
a. What happens with the patients who are deemed to be at risk and may need antivirals
b. How contact is made with the general practice (SMD) and what it will say; including the follow up phone call to alert the practice of the communication
c. What happens after hours/non response from the GP, and what happens to those patients who don’t nominate a GP
d. The SMS communication and education of patients to also contact their GP within 24 hours
NSW Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant will also provide an update on the current COVID situation in NSW, and
Dr Walid Jammal, GP, will recap what GPs are expected to do and how to prescribe.
