Next generation of GPs welcomed at RACGP NSW Fellowship ceremony

The Royal Australian College of GPs (RACGP) will welcome its newest specialist GPs on Saturday 12 September at the NSW Fellowship Ceremony, celebrating doctors who have completed their RACGP Fellowship and are ready to begin the next stage of their careers.

The ceremony recognises the dedication, resilience and commitment of doctors who have completed years of training and assessment to achieve Fellowship, marking a significant milestone in their careers and strengthening the future of healthcare in communities across New South Wales.

A total of 276 New Fellows, one Fellow in Advanced Rural Generalism and seven Rural Generalist Fellows will be recognised.

RACGP NSW and ACT Chair Dr Rebekah Hoffman congratulated the new Fellows and welcomed them to the next stage of their careers.

"Becoming a Fellow of the RACGP is an extraordinary achievement and reflects years of hard work, commitment and dedication to patient care," she said.

"GPs are at the heart of Australia's healthcare system. They care for patients throughout every stage of life, manage complex and chronic conditions, provide preventive care and build trusted relationships that improve health outcomes."

Dr Hoffman said the ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate not only individual achievement but also the vital contribution of specialist GPs to communities across Australia.

"At a time when access to safe, comprehensive healthcare is more important than ever, it is inspiring to see so many doctors choosing careers in general practice and committing to caring for patients in communities right across our region," she said.

"Many of our new Fellows will go on to practise in rural and regional communities, supervise the next generation of GPs, and take on leadership roles that strengthen our healthcare system for years to come."

The RACGP Fellowship Program equips doctors with the broad clinical expertise required to deliver comprehensive, person-centred care across all stages of life. Fellows play a critical role in disease prevention, chronic disease management, mental health care and improving access to healthcare for communities nationwide.

The Fellowship Ceremony recognises the achievements of doctors who have successfully completed RACGP training and assessments and are joining a profession that provides care to millions of Australians every year.

Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP) recognises that a doctor has completed specialist training in general practice and met the standards required to provide expert, comprehensive primary healthcare. Fellowship is an important milestone in a GP's professional journey and supports high-quality care for patients and communities across Australia.
