Calling all GPs: $250,000 digital health grant

Medibank and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) have joined together to launch a $250,000 grant to fund research into digital health in primary care.

Through the Medibank Better Health Foundation and RACGP Foundation, the grant will fund up to two projects focusing on one of the following themes:
  • Patients’ experience with digital health in general practice
  • Digital health integration in Australia
  • High quality digital support tools for clinical decision-making
Medibank Medical Director - Research, Policy & Innovation Dr Jessica Choong welcomes the opportunity to partner with the RACGP to support better health outcomes.

“GPs are at the frontline of health in their community, and we’re pleased to continue working alongside the RACGP to support the incredible work they do,” Dr Choong said.

“Technology is bringing about huge changes to health and the health landscape in Australia. The more we can all understand the potential opportunities and barriers, the better the experience will be for patients and those who care for them.”

RACGP President Dr Nicole Higgins said general practice was the engine room of the health system, and research in general practice was critical.

“The RACGP Foundation Grants and Awards program enables general practice research, which is essential to improve primary care and help ensure all Australians receive high quality care,” Dr Higgins said.

“Our grants program has been running for over 60 years and has a high success rate for recipients receiving further funding to take their ideas and solutions forward.

“I encourage my fellow GPs to consider applying for a grant. Research by GPs is essential to progress and improve general practice for the benefit of patients across Australia, and around the world.”

Expressions of Interest for the research grant will close on Monday 3 April 2023.
