AGPT registrars can commence applying to practices for the 2025.2 placement round through the Training Management System (TMS) from Monday, 28 April. Due to this, we are anticipating higher-than-usual traffic to our TMS. Although this may result in slower load times, we will actively be monitoring TMS performance and making necessary changes to remediate any issues. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Top South Australian and Northern Territory GPs and practices named

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has announced the South Australian and Northern Territory (SA&NT) finalists in the 2017 RACGP awards.

The annual awards recognise GPs, GP registrars, GP supervisors and general practices who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of their community.

Highly respected Port Augusta doctor Amanda Bethell has been named the SA&NT finalist in the 2017 RACGP General Practitioner of the Year Award.

Chair of RACGP SA&NT Dr Daniel Byrne said Dr Bethell was a most worthy recipient of the award.

“Dr Bethell has devoted her career to enhancing the lives of her patients and their family members,” Dr Byrne said.

“She has been an outstanding advocate for rural general practice and a leading light in the delivery of primary health care to the Port Augusta community.”

Dr Bethell is heavily involved in many activities outside of her practice. She founded and continues to run the Monthly Multicultural Meal, an event that aims to build relationships between overseas migrants and locals, and established the Travellers Well, a Christian organisation that has supported workers in Cambodian orphanages and nursery schools and has provided toys to disadvantaged children at Christmas.

RACGP SA&NT also presented the SA&NT General Practice of the Year award to the Arkaba Medical Centre in Adelaide.

The Arkaba Medical Centre is committed to providing the highest quality patient care available. The practice only recruits compassionate GPs who are eager to take as much time with their patients as necessary.

Other RACGP SA&NT finalists:

  • Dr Adelaide Louisa Boylan – Registrar of the Year, SA
  • Dr Samuel Russell Heard – GP Supervisor of the Year, NT

The national winners of the RACGP awards will be announced at GP17 – the RACGP’s annual conference for general practice – running from 26–28 October 2017.
