RACGP announces Western Australia GP Supervisor of the Year and other honourees

Bayswater general practitioner Dr Rohan Gay has been named Western Australia GP Supervisor of the Year by The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

RACGP Western Australia Chair Dr Tim Koh said Dr Gay was an excellent choice for the award.

“Rohan is the type of GP who goes above and beyond when it comes to helping his patients and training his staff, and his passion for the craft of medicine inspires everyone around him,” Dr Koh said.

Dr Gay moved to Perth in 1995 where he has also taught clinical skills to students at the University of Western Australia.

RACGP Western Australia also named Dr Mary Wyatt of the Ranford Medical Centre RACGP WA Registrar of the Year.

“Mary’s contribution to the wellbeing and education of her fellow GP registrars has been outstanding and her work as a GP within her practice excellent.

“She is held in high-esteem by patients and work colleagues,” Dr Koh said.

RACGP Western Australia also named Bunbury’s Brecken Health Care Practice of the Year.

Established by Dr Brenda Murrison in 2010, the practice has grown from strength to strength. Dr Murrison’s formula for success is working extremely hard and “…never giving up.”

“Brecken Health Care has a strong commitment to education for staff and its registrars are hugely supported by all staff members,” Dr Koh said.

“It’s a family-focused practice with a positive team-oriented culture and a deserving winner,” he added.

Other RACGP WA honourees:

  • Edward Gawthorn Prize: Dr Jane McCulloch (2015.2) and Dr Hilaire Dufour (2016.1)
  • RACGP WA Faculty Legend: Dr Sean Stevens.

Sean was recognised for his great support, advice and leadership to the RACGP WA team. His continued input into medical education has ensured the relevance and high quality of education activities delivered to WA members.
