RACGP announces Queensland Registrar and Practice of the Year

Rural general practitioner and Medical Officer Reservist Dr Scott Allison has been named Queensland Registrar of the Year by The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

RACGP Queensland Chair Dr Edwin Kruys said Dr Allison was an excellent choice for the award.

“Scott demonstrates a strong commitment to rural General Practice and has a keen interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health,” Dr Kruys said.

Dr Allison is heavily involved in teaching and research and is currently undertaking a Master of Philosophy, having completed a Master of Public Health in 2014. He is also a Medical Officer Reservist with the Australian Army and Captain at the 11 Close Service Support Battalion in Enogerra.

“Scott displays a high level of commitment to both his patients and practice in addition to being the co-founder and volunteer doctor at Clinic 30, a sexual health clinic in Fortitude Valley,” Dr Kruys said.

RACGP Queensland also named Sippy Downs Practice of the Year.

“The Sippy Downs practice led by Dr John Adie has a strong commitment to education for staff and hosts monthly education sessions, where cases are presented by GPs and a panel of medical specialists,” Dr Kruys said.

The practice actively shares its knowledge and frequently presents at both local and national events.  The team includes Allied Health providers, and the practice is also involved in local community events.  Where required, the practice also offers home visits to its patients.
