The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) warmly congratulates all general practitioners and healthcare professionals honoured in the Queen’s Birthday 2016 Honours list.
“GPs are on the front line of primary health care in Australia and every day the work we do in preventative health makes a life-changing contribution to the Australian community,” said Dr Frank R Jones president of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
These prestigious awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of extraordinary Australians whose service has made a significant difference to Australian life or to humanity at large.
Dr Jones highlighted the work of two recipients; Professor Peter Mudge, RACGP Foundation Patron, who has worked tirelessly to support general practice research and has been a pioneer in academic general practice, and Associate Professor Vicki Kotsirilos who has supported the RACGP Foundation and encouraged research that assists in the integration of safe and ethical forms of natural and complementary medicines or therapies into mainstream medical practice.
Professor Mudge holds a Rose-Hunt Medal, the RACGP’s most prestigious honour, for his remarkable contribution to the RACGP both as Chair of the RACGP Tasmania Board and as Chair of RACGP Council
“The general practice profession is very proud of all those colleagues named on the honours list for their outstanding efforts and commitment to primary healthcare and community well-being,” Dr Jones said.
