South Australia’s Dr Kenan Wanguhu receives highest rural GP accolade

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is proud to announce Dr Kenan Wanguhu, of the Riverland, SA, as the recipient of The RACGP National Rural Faculty’s Brian Williams Award.

This is the highest accolade to be awarded by the RACGP National Rural Faculty and recognises a member of the RACGP who has made a significant contribution to the personal and professional welfare of rural doctors.

Presenting the award on the eve of the GP15 conference in Melbourne, RACGP President, Dr Frank R Jones, congratulated Dr Wanguhu for his long standing commitment to build a strong future rural GP workforce.

“Dr Wanguhu has committed himself tirelessly to supporting International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and registrars on their journey towards Fellowship of the RACGP,” Dr Jones said.

“With qualifications in obstetrics, anesthetics, emergency medicine and account, he is an invaluable mentor to many aspiring future GPs.

“In addition to the countless hours spent nurturing IMGs and junior GPs, Dr Wanguhu sits on the Rural Doctors Workforce Agency Board and serves as the RACGP Rural Censor.”

GP15 – the RACGP’s annual conference for general practice – runs from September 21-23 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Visit the GP15 website for more information.
