Record number of GPs set to convene in Adelaide for GP14

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) GP14 conference has already broken registration records with two weeks until the conference begins in Adelaide.

Over 1,000 Australian GPs will converge on the Adelaide Convention Centre from 9-11 October to attend GP14 – the premier event on the general practice calendar.

This year’s theme ‘Lead. Inspire.’ will reflect the role of GPs as leaders in providing healthcare to the community and their role of inspiring a healthy Australia.

RACGP President-elect, Dr Frank Jones, said GP14 is the fastest selling conference to date and encourages interested delegates to register now to avoid disappointment.

“This is the most rapid uptake of conference registration and program enrolment the RACGP has ever seen and I have no doubt GP14 will build on the success of last year’s conference in Darwin,” said Dr Jones.

“It’s not too late for delegates to register and the extensive range of educational activities and social events hosted at GP14 make it an event not to be missed.

“In addition to enhancing GPs’ educational needs, the conference strengthens the profession’s sense of collegiality.”

Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from both local and international guest speakers, including Dr Andrew Bazemore, Director of the Robert Graham Centre for Policy Studies in Primary Care in Washington DC, Academic GP Prof David Weller and Adelaide University’s Dr Jill Benson.

“We have a fantastic program on offer this year and the theme ‘Lead. Inspire’ is particularly significant as GPs face a time of uncertainty following the Federal Budget announcement earlier this year,” said Dr Jones.

“The conference will provide a timely opportunity for the profession to come together and discuss issues affecting the primary healthcare sector whilst also celebrating its successes.”

GP14 also presents a great opportunity for delegates to network with colleagues from all around Australia offering an exciting social program including an event for New Fellows and registrars and the inaugural GP14 gala dinner to be held at the new Adelaide Oval function centre.

The exhibition hall has sold out and attendees can expect a world class display of over 100 stalls and exhibition stage presentations throughout the conference.
