This prestigious award is presented to a GP who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the general practice profession, excellence in primary healthcare provision, and significant involvement in training and continuing professional development.

Presenting the award on the eve of the GP14 conference in Adelaide, RACGP President, Dr Liz Marles, congratulated Dr Crampton for his long standing commitment to high quality general practice services and to teaching and mentoring the next generation of GPs in Western Sydney.

“Dr Crampton has been a dedicated GP for almost 30 years, a GP supervisor for 13 years, a Medical Educator for 8 years and an overall outstanding member of the general practice community,” said Dr Marles.

“He is a true asset and source of inspiration to his patients, the Western Sydney region, and Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) programs to which he dedicates a great deal of time.”

In addition to his role as one of eight Principals at Kable Street General Practice, Dr Crampton is currently the Clinical Lead at NSW Health Western Sydney Integrated Care Program with WentWest and the Western Sydney Local Health District.

“Dr Crampton’s demonstrated passion for preventative health, e-health, clinical governance and education are an inspiration and his projects in his many representative roles over his career have seen considerable improvements in areas including patient safety and e-health,” said Dr Marles.

“Dr Crampton was the RACGP’s inaugural RACGP Computer Fellow in 1987 and his commitment to e-health advancement has remained steadfast as technology has evolved.

“Dr Crampton has directly served each and every Australian GP, as his guidance on numerous projects ensured clinical requirements were not only met, but exceeded.”

For the past 8 years, Dr Crampton has had a tremendous impact on the quality of teaching provided to GP Registrars at WentWest and his practice is a highly sought after posting in the Western Sydney region.

“Dr Crampton is highly admired and respected within the NSW training community and his contributions are valued by medical students, registrars and peers alike,” said Dr Marles.

Dr Crampton said he felt gratified to be the recipient of this prestigious RACGP award.

“General practice has been my lifelong passion and to be recognised as General Practitioner of the Year when I work among so many colleagues passionate about improving the lives of their patients is extremely humbling,” said Dr Crampton.
