RACGP offers a Better platform. Better support. Better QI for the 2014–16 QI&CPD triennium

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) officially launched the new 2014–16 Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development (QI&CPD) triennium at GP13 in Darwin last week to more than 1 000 GPs.

The incoming triennium offers a number of improvements that have been designed to offer QI&CPD participants a Better platform. Better support. Better QI.

Dr Liz Marles, RACGP President, said the RACGP has listened to its members in the development of the improvements for the QI&CPD triennium.

“The RACGP has worked hard to deliver an enhanced experience to better facilitate the delivery of high quality education to Australian GPs,” said Dr Marles.

Better platform.

Online system improvements

January 2014 sees the roll out of an enhanced digital platform that has been designed with time saving and intuitive measures that require less manual input. The RACGP has listened to its members and understand the time intensive nature of the general practice profession. This move underpins the development of a new digital platform for the QI&CPD program.

Better support.

The RACGP supports the needs of its members, not only throughout the transition period of rolling over to a new QI&CPD triennium and platform, but for all membership enquiries.

Better QI.

2014–16 triennium requirements

The 2014–16 triennium requirements retain a minimum of 130 points and must include 1 CPR activity and 2 x Category 1 activities including 1 x QI activity.

A new requirement for GPs this triennium is mandatory participation in a quality improvement (QI) activity. This component is nothing new, with many of our GP members already undertaking this type of learning regularly. Examples of QI activities include: ‘Plan, do, study, act’ (PDSA) cycles, clinical audits, research, small group learning, supervised clinical attachment, and evidence-based medicine journal club, as well as other Category 1 activities with a QI focus.

Dr Marles said, “The RACGP is committed to continuously enhancing the experience for its QI&CPD participants throughout the 2014–16 triennium to best meet Australian GP needs.”
