AGPT registrars can commence applying to practices for the 2025.2 placement round through the Training Management System (TMS) from Monday, 28 April. Due to this, we are anticipating higher-than-usual traffic to our TMS. Although this may result in slower load times, we will actively be monitoring TMS performance and making necessary changes to remediate any issues. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Australia’s GPs set to gather in Darwin – one week to go until GP13

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) GP13 conference has already broken attendance records with still a week to go.

Hundreds of Australia’s general practitioners (GPs) will converge on the Darwin Convention Centre on 17–19 October to attend the GP13 conference – the premier event on the general practice calendar.

This year’s theme is ‘Individual. Family. Community.’ and will represented in the streams of Dermatology, Clinical skills across General Practice, Musculoskeletal medicine, Pain management and chronic conditions, Education and training and Business in practice.

Dr Liz Marles, RACGP President, said GP13 is the fastest selling conference to date and encourages interested delegates to register now to avoid disappointment.

“Never before has the RACGP seen a sellout rate for pre-registration activities like this year.

“Interested delegates should not feel as though they have missed out. There are a huge number of workshops, educational activities and social events included in the conference pass that make GP13 an event not to be missed,” said Dr Marles.

Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from both local and international guest speakers, including Dr Jeff McMullen AM, (Four Corners and Sixty Minutes), and Dr Theresa Maresca (Mohawk Tribe, Kahnawake Band).

Conference highlights include:

  • Health is a state of mind – Dr Jeff McMullen AM, Journalist, Author and Film-maker (Four Corners and Sixty Minutes)
  • AKWE:KON (all of us, together): What American Indian communities can teach general practitioners – Dr Theresa Maresca (Mohawk Tribe, Kahnawake Band)
  • Disaster preparedness and management in primary care – facilitated by Dr Liz Marles, RACGP President
  • Using the eHealth record system to add value to clinical consultations – Dr Rob Hosking
  • Electronic prescribing to reduce medication error – Dr Trina Gregory
  • Announcement of RACGP Awards, including General Practitioner and National General Practice of the Year Awards

GP13 also provides a great opportunity for delegates to network and have some well-deserved fun, with world class artists Luke Kennedy (former member of the Ten Tenors and runner up from The Voice) and multi award winning country musician, Adam Brand, performing at GP13.
