Federal Health Minister, Tanya Plibersek, will officially open ‘GP12’ – the Royal Australian College of General Practitioner’s (RACGP) annual conference, to be held on the Gold Coast from 25 – 27 October 2012.
Minister Plibersek will join Dr Liz Marles, RACGP President-elect, in welcoming both local and international delegates to what is expected to be the College’s most extensive annual conference to date.
Commenting on the program, Dr Marles said the line-up of speakers and wide selection of general practice themes to be covered during GP12, reflected the broad scope and work undertaken by GPs to support healthy communities across Australia.
“General practice plays a critical role in preventing disease and managing ongoing patient care across the lifespan,” Dr Marles said.
“GP12 is a great opportunity to share knowledge, experiences and ideas on how general practice will be fundamental in achieving true health reform in Australia and ultimately, better health outcomes for all.
“I am delighted that Minister Plibersek is able to partake in GP12 and am looking forward to continuing a strong working relationship between the RACGP and the Australian Government during my two-year term as President,” Dr Marles concluded.
With less than one month until the conference commences, interested delegates are encouraged to register their attendance by visiting www.gpconference.com.au/registration. RACGP members can save up to $100 on registration prices.
