RACGP Presidential Election voting moves online

This year the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) will conduct its 2012 Presidential Election ballot entirely online, moving away from postal voting.

The College has adopted an electronic voting facility to be managed by Mr Richard Kidd of the Australian Elections Company, enabling eligible* members to securely cast their vote in a user-friendly, accessible manner.

Professor Nigel Stocks, Chair of Council, confirmed two nominations had been received for the position of RACGP President by Dr Liz Marles and Dr Mike Civil, and an online ballot would take place to determine the successful candidate.

“I encourage all eligible members to review the Presidential candidate statements provided by Dr Marles and Dr Civil, to consider who they believe would best lead our College into the future,” Professor Stocks said.

The voting period for the election of the RACGP President will commence on Monday 9 July 2012 and will close at 4.00 pm AEST on Monday 6 August 2012.

Members eligible to vote will be contacted in due course by the Returning Officer, Mr Richard Kidd, with ballot material enabling electronic voting to commence on 9 July 2012.

Eligible members who do not have a known email address to the College, will receive instructions in the mail on how they can cast their vote online.
