The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has relocated its National Office and Victorian-based Faculties from its premises in South Melbourne to 100 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne, celebrating the official opening today.
The move comes as the number of products and services on offer to RACGP members expands, in line with record membership numbers and continued growth of the College.
RACGP President, Professor Claire Jackson, said the relocation reflects of the growing voice and strength of general practice in Australia.
“This move is an exciting and positive progression for the College. As a growing organisation, we have expanded beyond our current offices and look forward to working in an office environment that conducive to new growth, ensuring our membership is best supported through ongoing development of new services and products.
The East Melbourne building boasts an attractive reception area for members, a training area and a new John Murtagh Centre. The new office also features numerous meeting rooms to allow opportunities for formal and informal member meetings to take place.
“Members are naturally very excited about this new facility as it symbolises their strength as the peak association for general practice,” Professor Jackson said.
Victorian-based faculties making the move with the National Office to East Melbourne consist of the RACGP National Rural Faculty, National Faculty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Victoria Faculty.
“Each RACGP faculty is unique, with its own history, characters and home within the College, and yet together, all faculties form the one College uniformly focused on improving the health and wellbeing of all people living in Australia.
“This relocation is another example of the RACGP ensuring that our membership base is at the heart of all College activities. Members and staff across all states are proud to promote a welcoming, collegiate environment and to celebrate excellence in general practice across all our offices,” Professor Jackson concluded.
