Enhancing preventive healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Following the March 2018 launch of the third edition of the National guide to a preventive health assessment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (National Guide), and associated podcast series, the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) and the RACGP are working to increase awareness and use of the National Guide, and support culturally responsive healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, irrespective of where they seek care.

Members and their practice teams are invited to complete a short survey led by NACCHO and the RACGP. The survey aims to understand how health services can ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients receive patient centred, quality health assessments (715), access resources that would support mainstream general practice teams to provide culturally responsive healthcare, and how guidelines, such as the National Guide, can be integrated into clinical software.

Visit the RACGP website to complete the survey. The survey closes 15 February 2019.

Guideline for the management of knee and hip osteoarthritis

The second edition of the RACGP's Guideline for the management of knee and hip osteoarthritis provides the best available, current scientific evidence for osteoarthritis (OA) interventions.

The guideline includes a summary of recommendations and algorithms to assist busy GPs and other health professionals in the assessment, diagnosis and management of knee and/or hip osteoarthritis. There is a strong focus on self-management and non-surgical treatments to empower patients with knee and hip osteoarthritis to improve their health and mobility.

Visit the RACGP website to download the guideline.
