New guidelines and training requirement for yellow fever vaccination providers

A new training requirement for prescribers of the yellow fever vaccine, along with new national guidelines for yellow fever vaccination centres and providers, came into effect on 26 November.

Medical practitioners and nurse practitioners who intend to prescribe the vaccine will now be required to complete an online learning course to obtain accreditation. Practitioners already prescribing the vaccine will have up to three years to complete the course.

The course can be completed via the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) online learning platform. ACRRM  membership is not required to access the course, however you will be required to create an online account.

Visit the Department of Health website to view the yellow fever vaccination factsheet or contact humanbiosecurity@health.gov.au for more information on the new yellow fever vaccination course and national guidelines.

Invitation for feedback –General practice management of type 2 diabetes 2016–18 guidelines

The General practice management of type 2 diabetes 2016–18 guidelines (known as the diabetes handbook) is designed to provide pragmatic evidence-based recommendations for use in general practice.

In order to ensure these guidelines give up-to-date, evidence-based information, members are encouraged to provide feedback on the current edition. A short, two-minute survey aims to capture user experience of the guidelines and how they can be improved to ensure their usefulness and appropriateness for the profession in the future.

Fill out the RACGP survey to provide your feedback.
