No one knows you like your GP – Practice resources

The RACGP’s ongoing community awareness campaign highlights the value of general practice in our community, reinforcing the breadth and depth of GPs’ interactions with patients and the reasons no one knows Australian patients like their GP knows them.

RACGP members are invited to use campaign materials and join us in highlighting the value of general practice, and the importance of education and learning gained through membership and association with the RACGP.

Campaign materials available to RACGP members include posters, social media cover images, website tiles and downloadable, captioned videos to play in your practice.

The materials include:

  • digital copies of the TV adverts – to be played on practice TV screens
  • practice posters – for your waiting area
  • social media cover images – for your personal and professional Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts
  • digital adverts – for your practice website
  • the RACGP Oath of Fellowship – to frame and display in your consultation room
  • an RACGP Fellow and RACGP member logo – to include on your practice website, personal stationery or business cards.

Visit the RACGP website to download supporting materials.

HANDI – Moisturiser for the prevention of skin tears

Skin tears are the most common wounds in elderly people, with the majority of tears occurring in the arms (54%) and legs (40%). If treated inappropriately or left untreated, skin tears can convert to chronic wounds, significantly affecting an individual’s quality of life and increasing avoidable healthcare costs.

The Handbook of Non-Drug interventions (HANDI) recommends that twice-daily application of a pH-neutral, perfume-free moisturising lotion to body extremities can reduce the incidence of tear by almost 50%. Lotions should also contain a non-irritating humectant, such as glycerine, and an occlusive agent.

Visit the RACGP website for more information about this cost-effective and simple non-drug therapy.

Position available for Advisory Board of Assessment – Recent Fellow

The RACGP invites applications for the position of Recent Fellow on the Advisory Board of Assessment (ABoA).

The Recent Fellow position is applicable to newly admitted RACGP Fellows. Appointment provides an opportunity to contribute to the education, training and assessment of GPs and advocate strongly on behalf of doctors on a pathway to Fellowship.

Applications for Recent Fellow on the ABoA close 5.00 pm AEST on Friday 1 June.

Visit the RACGP website for the position advertisement, including 2018 and 2019 meeting dates, ABoA terms of reference, and details of how to apply.
