RACGP presidential candidate discussion forum – Tuesday 19 June

RACGP members are invited to attend the presidential forum on Tuesday 19 June in Melbourne.

The forum provides the presidential candidates an opportunity to engage with members and present their election platform.

The RACGP will also take this opportunity to run a general panel discussion on current issues in general practice:

  • How will GP education need to change to stay relevant to patient expectations of care?
  • How can the RACGP support practices to ensure viability?

The forum will be filmed and made available on shareGP following the event.

Places are limited. Please email media@racgp.org.au if you are interested in attending the forum, or to put forward a question or item for discussion.

No one knows you like your GP – Practice resources

The RACGP’s ongoing community awareness campaign highlights the value of general practice in our community, reinforcing the breadth and depth of GPs’ interactions with patients and the reasons no one knows Australian patients like their GP knows them.

RACGP members are invited to use campaign materials and join us in highlighting the value of general practice, and the importance of education and learning gained through membership and association with the RACGP.

Campaign materials available to RACGP members include posters, social media cover images, website tiles and downloadable, captioned videos to play in your practice.

The materials include:

  • digital copies of the TV adverts – to be played on practice TV screens
  • practice posters – for your waiting area
  • social media cover images – for your personal and professional Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts
  • digital adverts – for your practice website
  • the RACGP Oath of Fellowship – to frame and display in your consultation room
  • an RACGP Fellow and RACGP member logo – to include on your practice website, personal stationery or business cards.

Visit the RACGP website to download supporting materials.

Prevention and management of patient initiated violence

The RACGP resource, General practice - A safe place: A guide for the prevention and management of patient initiated violence is intended to help GPs and their practice teams proactively prevent and manage the risk and incidence of patient-initiated violence.

General practice teams need to work together to ensure that all individuals (patients, carers, staff and others) remain safe while within Australian general practices.

The resource proposes a practice-wide, systems approach to patient-initiated violence encompassing the:

  • doctor-patient encounter
  • general practice team
  • general practice environment

A safe place’ posters  are available for general practices to download and display in clinics.

Visit the RACGP website to download General practice - A safe place: A guide for the prevention and management of patient initiated violence.
