Assessing the accessibility and quality of mental health services in rural and remote Australia
RACGP Rural is preparing a submission to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee, who are conducting an inquiry into the accessibility and quality of mental health services in rural and remote Australia.
RACGP Rural is seeking feedback from GPs regarding the accessibility and quality of mental health services in rural and remote Australia, including any other information relevant to this inquiry.
Please submit your feedback to rural@racgp.org.au by Thursday 19 April. All comments and feedback received will be treated confidentially.
Patients on anticoagulation therapy
The RACGP would like to remind its members with patients on anticoagulation therapy of the need to identify any clinically relevant information in relation to their therapy. This information should include: indications for anticoagulation therapy, adverse clotting events, planned surgery, prescribed medications and other changes to the patient’s circumstances.
Ensure any relevant information is communicated to the pathology laboratory (or other medical practitioner) responsible for monitoring their anticoagulation therapy and international normalised ratio (INR) levels. Patients on anticoagulation therapy should also be reviewed by a haematologist at regular intervals.
