Health of the Nation – Thursday nights at 9.30

Each week, the RACGP speaks to patients around the country via Macquarie media’s weekly radio program Health of the Nation.

Last week RACGP President Dr Bastian Seidel discussed the security of My Health Record, skin cancer checks with your GP and after-hours GP services.

Catch up over the festive season with some easy listening of past episodes on health topics that have been featured in the news throughout November and December.

Health of the Nation will resume 1 February 2018 and RACGP members can tune in to 3AW Melbourne, 2GB Sydney or 4BC Brisbane at 9.30 pm on Thursday nights to listen.

In Practice poll results - Changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule

The Department of Health publishes changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) throughout the year on MBS Online. These updates often include changes that affect general practice and may alter information presented in the RACGP’s MBS fee summary. We polled members on whether they were aware of recent changes to the MBS (effective 1 November 2017), including to aftercare arrangements, and 62% of respondents said they were not aware of the changes.

The RACGP wants to ensure members have timely updates relating to the MBS. While the RACGP updates its MBS fee summary annually, we now also publish information on changes to items affecting general practice in the members' section of the RACGP website. Please login to view the updates

The RACGP’s MBS fee summary and MBS rebates short guide for general practice 2017 can be downloaded from the RACGP website and hard copies are available on request by emailing advocacy@racgp.org.au. The RACGP thanks all poll respondents for their feedback.
