A number of programs and supports are available for doctors working in rural, remote and very remote Australia. RACGP Rural assists eligible procedural and emergency medicine GPs practising in regional, rural and remote areas to access financial assistance for skills maintenance and upskilling in their respective disciplines. This occurs through the Rural Procedural Grants Program which is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health (DoH) and co-managed by RACGP Rural.
RACGP Rural also manages the fellowship program for rural doctors, the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP).
Contact state faculties for details on professional development opportunities in rural and remote areas in your area.
