Useful information and resources for RCE candidates

About the RCE

Replacing the OSCE, the Remote Clinical Exam (RCE) is the final exam leading to the award of Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). The RCE is delivered entirely remotely and therefore not impacted by COVID-19 restrictions, allowing all eligible candidates to complete this fellowship exam.

Preparing for the RCE

The best way to prepare for the clinical exam is to continue working in practice with patients. We also recommend you:

  • Complete Introduction to the RACGP Remote Clinical Exam for Candidates module on gplearning  which includes a number of resources - sample RCE cases, technical guide and marking rubrics
  • Read the Zoom FAQs and technical guide
  • Practise using Zoom (including screen sharing using the remote control function)
  • Read RCE Tips for Candidates
  • Use the cases provided in the module - pair up with a study buddy and practise
  • Participate in the mock RCE if you haven’t already done so

The Mock RCE

The Mock RCE exam environment simulates that of the actual RCE. Candidates have the opportunity to experience how the RCE works, practise cases and receive examiner feedback. Candidates rotate through four cases in pairs, taking turns with each candidate observing two cases and responding to two cases. Each case will be delivered by an RCE examiner.

Enrolments for the mock exam have closed and all places exhausted.
