30 March 2022
This notice is to advise that the RACGP has updated its policy and guidance on recognition of prior learning due to changes to ACEM Accredited Emergency Departments.
The new Recognition of Prior learning Policy and Applying for Recognition of Prior Learning Guidance Document replaces the previous versions and will come into effect immediately.
There is one change to the document summarised in the table below.
Change |
Rationale |
Implication |
We have added the previous ACEM Accredited Emergency Departments list as clause 5 of the Applying for Recognition of Prior Learning Guidance Document which we reference in clause 5.2.3 of the Recognition of Prior learning Policy.
|
The change in the ACEM Accredited Emergency Departments list as of 15 March 2022 means some doctors will be undertaking or planning to undertake work in emergency departments only accredited prior to 15 March 2022. Therefore, the RACGP will accept work undertaken up to December 2022 in RPL applications and has provided the list for doctors and Training Organisations to refer to.
|
Doctors who have organised work in emergency departments as per the old list will be able to apply for RPL if the work is undertaken prior to December 2022. They will also be able to apply for work undertaken between March and December 2022 as per the new list.
Doctors undertaking work from January 2023 will need to adhere to the new list.
