Policy update notice: PEP Standard Stream policies – 2 February 2021

2 February 2021

Notice of RACGP policy update

This notice is to advise that the RACGP has updated its progression policy and satisfactory completion framework guidance document for the Practice Experience Program (PEP) Standard Stream. The new PEP Standard Stream Progression Policy and PEP Satisfactory Completion Framework come into immediate effect, superseding the previous corresponding policies as of today, 2 February 2021.

What has changed?

All learning units are now available to all participants on program entry and are not mandated for completion of the PEP. Satisfactory completion of PEP is now monitored through CPD activity and participation in six Workplace-based Assessment (WBA) activities

Upon review of the participants’ experience of the PEP, the RACGP determined that a more self-driven model of learning is desirable. Therefore, participants can choose which units and CPD activity they wish to focus on.

Additional WBA activities will replace the mandatory completion of learning units to ensure participants continued engagement with the program and evidence that these add more value to the participants experience overall.

The requirement to complete any learning units has been removed from the PEP Standard Stream Progression Policy and PEP Satisfactory Completion Framework, replaced with additional WBA activities.

Training Organisations no longer need to provide progress monitoring and reporting on participants to the RACGP. Progress throughout PEP is now monitored by the RACGP through the PEP Portal.

To streamline the reporting and administration process for PEP participants’ progression, the RACGP is taking over monitoring from Training Organisations. This will allow Training Organisations to support the additional WBA and self-driven approach of the PEP redesign.

The requirement for participant progress and completion reports have been removed from the PEP Standard Stream Progression Policy and PEP Satisfactory Completion Framework.

When do the changes take place?
