Training program requirements
Registrars subject to section 19AB of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cwlth) must first be granted a section 19AB exemption by the Department of Health before applying to transfer to the general stream. Note that the RACGP is not compelled to approve your application for transfer, and a section 19AB exemption does not guarantee we will approve the application.
We take into consideration both your needs and workforce needs when considering applications for transfer between streams.
For more information about transfers, refer to Transferring.
